Be careful while using mobile phone!!!

Last week my friend shared a story from his workplace. Recently a young lady joined the company. She impressed everyone with her hard work and dedication in no time. One day she called one of the senior managers and asked permission for something over the mobile phone. He did not give her permission. Immediately after the call, senior guy got an sms from her number "He dint give permission. Such an ...............". You can fill up the blanks suitably. Actually the young lady got angry over not getting permission and she wanted to share it with one of her friends. But unluckily, in a moment's error, she sent the message to the manager's number itself and she was in trouble.

After hearing this story I started recalling incidents in which mobile phone landed me or my friends in trouble. There has been a number of occasions. Once I was in hospital talking on mobile about the death of a person admitted there (about which his wife did not know as of now). Due to some range problem the communication was not clear and my voice got slightly louder and his wife overheard. It was a sudden shock to her and everyone was angry at me. Even though unintentional, my act was totally inappropriate in that situation. Still I feel mad about that. Another experience is that of my friend. He was chatting through sms with his friend and girlfriend simultaneously. A message that was intended for girlfriend ended up in his friend’s inbox. The message was too much personal in nature and the events which followed eventually lead to his breakup with his girlfriend.

I am sure all of you using mobile phones will have experienced some similar situations. In most cases it would end without causing much problem. But there is every chance that some times mobiles may become a cause of embarrassment for you. So be careful and have a happy mobile life..

review short film 'inganeyum oru katha'

In one of my previous posts I wrote about a short film called 'inganeyum oru katha' from a site mad about movies.  The movie is directed by shilpa krishnan shukla and has a length of about 24 minutes. It has got six characters three male and three female. One thing I found interesting was the dialogues. It was well written and interesting. The quality of dialogues in present day commercial malayalam movies is pathetic at times. Couple of days back watched a movie 'Mallu singh' in theater and to be frank this short film has got better quality in dialogues than that commercial movies.

Acting was also good. All the six actors did a great job considering the fact that they are not professionals. Casting was good. May be it supported acting part. Director has put some effort into the movie and it is not something we call a 'thattikootu padam'. There is definitely some work behind this project.

The main draw back of the movie is the lack of freshness in story. It is predictable within first 3-4 minutes and it moves in exactly same way as we picture it. So we do not feel anything as the movie ends. On the technical side the slow fading technique  used between scenes was not cool and the dialogues was not clear during some part.

But overall I would say movie is worth watching and full credit to the director.

Script:- Thief

Scene 1
Thief is drinking tea at a local tea stall.
While drinking he is keeping an eye on a house at some distance without others noticing.
[long shot]
The car poarch. A family is putting their bags to the car. Close the door of house. Takes the car out of compound and then the locks the gate and drives away.
Thief pays the cash and walks away.
Scene 2
Back side of the home. Thief makes sure no one is watching and then jumps the wall. He takes out a number of keys and tries one at a time. Finally unlocks the door and gets into the house. And close the door.
Scene 3
Thief is observing the rooms. He finds staircase and goes to upper floor without making noice.
[Cut shot]
Thief is trying to unlock a safe. Hears some noise outside. he puts his eye through the key hole and observes, sees  some shadow moving outside. Feared thief moves back and thinks some time what to do.
Puts his hand in his pocket take out a knife. He slowly opens the door and walks outside.
There is no one there. So he moves to another room. A room with a computer and lots of to do list attached to the table. He starts reading the lists and his eyes get stuck on one
“Death is always an uninvited guest”
Close up shot of his face. Looks nervous………….
Scene 4
Some one is reading a news paper in the tea stall shown earlier.
“the news of the dead body found in that house is here. It says cause of death is unknown………….”

Best sites for malayalam movie lovers

Movieraga
This is one of the best sites to read reviews and news about the malayalam  movie world in malayalam. Most of the reviewing sites online always give positive reviews and acts like they are talking for the producers. But this site is absolutely sharp in its review. You may not always agree with them but you will enjoy their language and humor in reviews. Main reviewer is G Krishnamurthy and I have always found his reviews interesting. Also the comment section of the site is also very engaging and you see can a number of hot debates going on every time you visit. Keralites is known for their intererst in debates and talk shows as we can see from the ratings of evening talk show in channels. This critical attitude is clearly shown in the comment section of this which has got some regular visitors.
All over the site is great and also provides you option to buy dvd's and books on films. A must visit site for movie lovers. On the negative side, some time the review gets delayed. So we cannot get a report on first day itself.

mad about movies
This site has reviews and news about movies from different languages including malayalam. I am just a beginner in site so I cannot write a detailed review. But I am posting the site here because I saw a short film there 'inganeyum oru katha'. I felt this site is by some serious movie lovers. So I would take it to my list of good malayalam movie sites.

metromatinee
Most of you would know this site. They are the official internet partner of many movies released thsese days and you would have seen their logo at the beginning of movies.  You can get trailer and stills of the movies really quickly. I would not suggest the review section of this website. I felt it is not up to the mark.

Other sites are:-

Priyayude vellithira- It is a blog. But presently not very active.
Re-vi-you- A high quality movie review sites. Includes many language movies. really interesting.

How to overcome summer energy shortage?

As the summer peaks power shortage has become a serious problem in India.Approximately 20% of electricity in India is generated from hydro projects. During summer water level falls considerably making it difficult for power generation. Add to this, the problem associated with petroleum and coal industry, power sector in India is under serious pressure during this summer. I was thinking about potential solutions for the problem and came up with some solutions. Even though I am not sure about its practical difficulties I would like to share my initial ideas.

In a state like Kerala there is plenty of rainfall during monsoon season. This high density rain fall during short period  results in flooding of rivers and excess water runs away to the ocean in no time. So it become useless.  If we can store the kinetic energy of natural river sources during monsoon we can use it later. I was thinking about a motor in which rotor is rotated using the high kinetic energy of river water to pump water from same river. The water should be pumped to tanks at some height above the ground level  so that it can be used later for irrigation projects or mini power projects.I do not know the technical viability of the project. Also I am not sure about theoretical problems associated with such a system. But just something that came to my mind when I was thinking.

Other method that can be used for storage of kinetic energy is hydrolysis of water. This high speed running water can be used to run a temporary portable  hydrolysis system which consists of a generator and hydrolysis apparatus. Hydrogen so produced can be  stored and used later for power generation. You might wonder why hydrolysis? we can directly power the grid with electricity generated, which will be more efficient. Yes that is possible but during monsoon we have excess electricity. Problem is mainly during summer so I was more thinking about storing excess energy during monsoon for a scarce summer.

Another area to exploit is lightning. There is high amount of power delivered to earth in a short time. Initially I was thinking about a hydrolysis mechanism which uses the current from the lightning. But as I searched internet it showed that amount of current[I] is relatively less during lightning.Voltage[V] is high and as a result power is also high but hydrolysis is more dependent on current[I] flowing through the circuit. So it is not commercially feasible to setup such a structure. But still we can carryout researches. This is one field where there have been limited development. If we can find some feasible methods it will help to control power shortages  across the world.
